Our Story

RE-IMAGINING THE GAME OF GOLF

With stunning creekside and coulee views from each of the 18 Par3 holes, the new year-round Golfuture Range powered by Toptracer technology, retail shop, tournaments, glow golf events, and an award-winning restaurant, creekside patio and event centre — Paradise Valley is not your typical golf course. Our mandate is to provide a FUN GOLF EXPERIENCE FOR EVERYONE, and we have been doing just that for almost 40 years!

Paradise Valley has been an integral part of the Medicine Hat community since it opened — a gorgeous little course, set along the banks of the Seven Persons creek - but it is so much more. It is a community, a village of its own within the city limits, where our staff are also our customers, our customers are our friends, and all are loyal to the Valley.

Paradise Valley Golf Course was originally designed and built as a 9-hole course by Shorty (Alfred) Heringer. With input from the world-renowned golf course designer, Les Furber, Shorty and his wife Patricia opened Paradise Valley in August 1984, expanding soon thereafter to a full 18 holes. With the help of the entire Heringer family, they owned and operated the course for 25 years before selling to Les and Dawn Postnikoff in February, 2008.

Our clientele varies widely from the first time player to the low handicapper practicing their short game. Families and friends love spending time together in an environment which is welcoming for everyone. Seniors enjoy the shortened walk around 18 holes of golf, where the layout is challenging, however the endurance required to last the 18 holes is minimal. And businesses and small groups enjoy the tournament atmosphere which is both social and fun. A round at Paradise Valley can be completed in a few hours, which goes a long way toward addressing one of the many issues that face today’s golfers—the time required to play a traditional 18-hole round. And these holes are no easy pitch-and-putts: elevation changes, gnarly rough, and creekside greens make it challenging as well as fun.

After the flood of 2010, the Clubhouse was rebuilt, knowing that the scenic location was perfect for a first class restaurant and event centre. In addition to meeting the needs of golfers, the Clubhouse, managed by Executive Chef Sourav Saha, is now rated as one of the best restaurants in Medicine Hat and hosts special events, meetings, weddings, and offers offsite catering throughout the city.

In 2016, Kim Bronson, who has been a manager since 2009, and her partner Steve Berry jumped at the chance to join our ownership team, and they now carry on the tradition of living and working in Paradise.

Paradise Valley is now officially women owned and operated, with Dawn and Kim working together to lead the team.
